Flowmetry is a simple and quick diagnostic technique that is performed on patients who have some form of difficulty urinating.
The objective of this non-invasive test is to evaluate the volume of urine that is expelled, the speed with which it is expelled, and the time it takes for it to be expelled. Any anomalies in the voiding flow help the urologist to identify the underlying problem, whether it is a significant disorder of the bladder or an obstruction of the urinary tract.
The specialist may ask the patient to temporarily suspend taking any medication that may alter the results of the test.
