This technique consists of the fragmentation of urinary stones using shock waves generated by a lithotripter. The fragments of the stones are eliminated spontaneously through urination.
At present, this procedure is the ideal technique for treating most stones, thanks to its ease of application, minimal invasiveness and the reduced rate of complications compared to classical surgery.
It can be performed painlessly, on an outpatient basis, and without the need for anaesthesia.
The Serrate & Ribal Institute of Urology has cutting-edge equipment for the application of this technique.
- DORNIER COMPACT DELTA II equipment with Outicouple technology.
- Semi-rigid ureteroscopes of various calibres.
- Radiological and ultrasound localisation.
- Source of electromagnetic energy.
